In vitro study | Benzyldodecyldimethylammonium chloride dihydrate (1-10 μM; 2 hours) results in a dose-dependent changes in the percent population of dead rat thymocyte cells.Benzyldodecyldimethylammonium chloride dihydrate (0-40 mg/L; 0-24 hours) inhibits P. fluorescens with a MIC of 20 mg/L. At 5 mg/L, cells have the same growth behaviour as the control. At concentrations of 10 and 15 mg/L the growth profile is different from the control, and the cells start to grow only after 8 h of adaptation. At concentrations of ≥20 mg/L, BDMDAC inhibits cell growth.Benzyldodecyldimethylammonium chloride dihydrate interacts strongly with cell surfaces in a concentration-dependent manner, and binds by ionic and hydrophobic interactions to microbial membrane surfaces, as manifested by phenomena such as membrane disruption and loss of membrane integrity with consequent leakage of essential intracellular constituents, which promote significant and irreversible changes in the cell structure. Cell Viability Assay Cell Line: Rat thymocyte cells Concentration: 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 mg/L Incubation Time: 2 hours Result: Resulted in cell death. Cell Proliferation Assay Cell Line: Bacterial P. fluorescen Concentration: 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 mg/L Incubation Time: 2 hours Result: Inhibited bacterial growth in a time and dose dependent manner. |

Benzyldimethyldodecylammonium Chloride Dihydrate - Introduction
Chloride Dihydrate(BDDAC) is an organic ammonium compound with the chemical formula C21H38ClN · 2H2O. The following is an introduction to its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
-Appearance: BDDAC is a colorless crystalline solid or is a white to light yellow granule.
-Solubility: It has high solubility in water and can be dissolved in organic solvents such as alcohols and chloroform.
-Melting point: The melting point of BDDAC is about 150-160°C.
-Stability: It is a stable compound that is not easy to decompose at room temperature.
Use:
-fungicide: BDDAC has strong sterilization and disinfection effect, commonly used in industrial, agricultural and household cleaners, can effectively eliminate bacteria, fungi and algae and other microorganisms.
-Surfactant: Because it contains quaternary ammonium ions, BDDAC can be used as a surfactant to disperse, emulsify and stabilize in some detergents and emulsions.
-Preservative: BDDAC can be used as a preservative in some commercial products to prevent product spoilage and microbial infection.
Preparation Method:
BDDAC can usually be obtained by the reaction of benzyldodecyldimethylamine and hydrochloric acid. The specific preparation method can be adjusted according to specific requirements.
Safety Information:
- BDDAC is relatively safe under normal use conditions, but the following matters still need to be paid attention:
-Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes, such as contact should be immediately rinsed with water.
-Avoid inhaling dust or solution vapor, and pay attention to ventilation.
-If ingested by mistake, seek medical attention immediately.
-In the use of the process should comply with the relevant safety practices, such as wearing protective gloves and glasses.
